The Sam Houston State University College of Criminal Justice (SHSU CJ) is proud to announce Jason Ingram as the new chair for the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CJC).

Ingram has served as a faculty member in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology since joining SHSU in 2018. In 2023, he was appointed as the assistant chair for the department and served as the director of graduate programs within the college.

“It’s an honor to be selected as the next chair,” Ingram said. “Our graduate and undergraduate programs are very strong. I’m excited to get to work alongside our talented students and faculty in this new role.”

Ingram earned his PhD from Michigan State University. His research focuses on the field of police culture, police supervision and police leadership. His recent work has appeared or is forthcoming in leading journals such as “Criminology,” “Justice Quarterly,” “Police Quarterly,” and the “Journal of Criminal Justice.”
