Justice Trends has recently featured Doug Dretke, the Executive Director for the Corrections Management Institute of Texas (CMIT), in their magazine for his leadership training and correctional management excellence.

Justice Trends is a bilingual printed and online publication that produces content on topics related to prison, juvenile justice and law enforcement. With a mission to “inform the corrections community about trends, challenges, best practices and the latest developments in the execution of justice worldwide,” Justice Trends aims to appeal to Ministers of Justice, Directors of Prison and those interested in learning more about corrections.

Doug Dretke, who has served as the Executive Director for CMIT for the past 15 years, has developed many training programs that impact prison systems globally. In one of his most recent programs, Dretke welcomed Executive Leaders from Mexico as a part of CMIT’s Executive Leadership Program. In this program, correctional leaders from different countries travel to the College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University to help develop their leadership capacity towards reforming and improving their correctional systems.

Even with his success in this industry, Dretke is still humbled by this recognition, saying, “To even be asked to be a part of or to be featured in the interview highlights the work that Sam Houston, the College of Criminal Justice, our institute and all our other institutes, are doing. It was an honor to be featured in Justice Trends and it gives Sam Houston recognition across the globe.”

As the corrections field evolves, the Corrections Management Institute of Texas looks to continue to develop programs beneficial to correctional institutions in various countries. Doug Dretke is a primary contributor to the response of this evolution, and his input has impacted institutions on a global scale. We look forward to seeing the influence of CMIT and the benefits its programs will have on other international institutions. To read the full article about Doug Dretke, please click here.
