The College of Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University is pleased to announce the new Internship Director, Greg Fremin.

Fremin, who is a retired Police Captain and Marine veteran, served Houston communities for 34 years before transitioning into his new role as an adjunct professor and now full-time Internship Director. With his new position, Fremin looks forward to helping students find internship opportunities while developing their professional growth and career skills. Fremin gained several state and local agency contacts through his work and wants to use his network to connect students with their dream internships. His extensive background will help students find the perfect fit for their internship opportunity.

With his new position, Fremin looks to make internship opportunities well known across the College of Criminal Justice. His goal is to promote and streamline the process of student internship opportunities to help develop their skills for their future careers. In his first semester as the Internship Director, Fremin wants to expand our internship program to get as many students involved with internships as possible.

Fremin values internships and knows how effective they can be, saying,” It gives students the opportunity to see what the real world is like. There is a lot of on-the-job and life experiences that these students are going to learn and what is going to be expected of them. It gives them real-world experience, it broadens their career choices, and it rounds them out to be a better employee.”

Fremin is filling the role that was previously held by Jim Dozier, who served as the criminal justice Internship Director for the past 13 years. We are grateful for the service that Dozier provided and he will be missed by the SHSU CJ community. Greg Fremin looks forward to continuing Dozier’s excellence in our internship program by launching his new initiatives and guiding students through the process. If you are interested in an internship, call and schedule an appointment to get started on your career in criminal justice!
