Six faculty and staff members from the College of Criminal Justice were honored for their dedicated years of service during the annual meeting for employees at Sam Houston State University.
Among those recognized for more than 20 years of service to the College were Drs. Dennis Longmire and Steven Cuvelier and staff members Cecil Marquart, David Epps, Cutty Gilbert and Ann Broussard.
Steven Cuvelier (seated, far right) has been a member of the College faculty for 25 years.The Service Awards were presented by SHSU President Dana G. Hoyt.
Marquart celebrated 35 years with the University. She serves as Director of Impaired Driving Initiatives, a program funded by the Texas Department of Transportation that helps law enforcement, school employees, employers, and probation and parole officers to better recognize the signs of drunk and drugged behavior in order to keep Texas roads safer.
Dr.Dennis Longmire, seated, second from left, has taught at the College for 30 years.Dr. Longmire was recognized for 30 years of service to the College. He previously served as Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs and Associate Dean for Academic Administration and is currently a member of the Faculty Senate. His academic specialties include the death penalty, public perceptions of crime, criminality, and criminal Justice, the classification of offenders, and criminological theory.
David Epps (standing, far left)is the IT manager at the College.Honored for 25 years of service were Dr. Cuvelier and Epps. Dr. Cuvelier, a professor in the College, has served a consultant for local, state and federal projects in the study of the use of computer technology to aid in software development, computer simulations, population projects and policy evaluation. Epps is a Technology Specialist in Information Technology, overseeing computers in the classroom and video productions for the College.
Alumni Relations Coordinator Cutty Gilbert and Operations Manager Ann Broussard (seated, far left, second to left, respectively) have worked in the College for 20 years.Recognized for 20 years of service were Broussard and Gilbert. Broussard manages operations for the Criminal Justice Conference Center, which includes the College and affiliated institutes. The Center is utilized not only for academics, but also outside groups for ongoing trainings and conferences. Gilbert serves not only as Director of Alumni Relations for the College of Criminal Justice, but she also oversees the College’s Scholarship Program.
